BPG Timer

BPG Timer counts the work and the rest in a gymnastics session, and turns the whole screen the colour of the phase so it can be read from the far end of the floor. This page is where you get help, and where the privacy policy lives.

How a session is built

A cycle is one work and one rest. A round is all the cycles in a row, and the next round follows after a normal rest. The very last rest is skipped, so the session ends on work: turn that off under Settings, Skip the last rest, if you would rather finish on rest.

Tap a card or a counter to change it. The total time for the whole session is always in the top left corner, and it updates as you change the numbers.

Saved setups. The T button holds five setups, T1 to T5. Tap one to load it, or Save to put the numbers you have now into that slot. A dot on the T button means you have changed something since it was saved.

Common questions

The beeps stopped my music

They should not. The app asks iOS to mix with other audio, and it does not touch the sound until you press Start. If your music does stop, check that Sound is on in Settings, then close the app and open it again.

I cannot hear the beeps

They play even with the silent switch on, but they follow the volume buttons. Turn the volume up while the timer is running. In a big hall, a phone in a speaker dock carries much further than the phone alone.

The TV just mirrors my phone

Open Control Centre, tap Screen Mirroring and pick the Apple TV. The app then gives the TV a picture of its own in 16:9, and a small TV mark appears next to TOTAL on the phone. If your TV only mirrors, lay the phone down: the landscape layout fills most of the screen.

On iPad the app does not fill the screen

Open Settings and look for Big screen at the bottom. Full goes edge to edge, Large keeps a margin, and Phone puts the phone layout in the middle of the screen. The setting only appears on iPad.

The flash does nothing

The flash is the camera light on the back of the phone, so it only helps when the back is free, on a tripod or facing a wall. It blinks at a change of phase, not continuously, and no iPad has one.

Does the screen turn off during a session?

No. Auto-Lock is held off from the first second to the last, and handed back when the session ends.

Can I leave the app while it runs?

Yes. The clock measures from the moment you pressed Start, so the time is right when you come back. You will not hear the beeps while you are away: beeps in the background are planned for a later version.

The numbers do not match the timer I used before

Most Tabata timers count a round as a block of cycles, and so does this one. What differs is the last rest, which is dropped here so the session ends on work. The total in the top left always tells you what the session actually adds up to.

Can I ask for something the app does not do?

Yes, and please do. The app is built from what coaches asked for on the gym floor, so a short email describing the situation is more useful to me than a feature name.

What it needs
Privacy policy

BPG Timer does not collect anything

There is no account, no sign-in and no server. The app has nothing to send anywhere, and it sends nothing.

What stays on the device. Your settings and your five saved setups, T1 to T5, are kept in the app's own storage on the device. They are not sent anywhere, and they go away with the app.

The camera light. The Flash option switches the light on the back of the phone on and off as a signal at a change of phase. The app never opens the camera, never asks for camera access and records nothing.

Sound. The beeps are made in code and played on top of whatever else is playing, so your music keeps going. The app reads nothing from other apps.

The TV. Screen Mirroring is a part of iOS. When a TV is connected, iOS asks the app for a picture and the app draws one; it never sees the TV, the network or anything on it.

What is not here.

  • No analytics, crash reporting or tracking of any kind
  • No advertising, and no advertising identifiers
  • No third party software development kits
  • No internet connection, so nothing can leave the device
  • Nothing collected from children, or from anyone else

If Apple sends me a crash report through App Store Connect, it comes from Apple and contains no personal information. You choose whether to share those in your own iOS settings.

Questions about privacy go to the same address as everything else: hn.moum@gmail.com. If this policy ever changes, the new version appears on this page and the date below changes with it.

Den aller siste resten hoppes over, slik at økta slutter på work. Det kan slås av under Settings, «Skip the last rest». Totaltiden står alltid oppe til venstre.

Lagrede oppsett.

Personvern. Appen samler ikke inn noe. Ingen konto, ingen innlogging, ingen tjener, ingen sporing og ingen annonser. Innstillingene og de fem oppsettene ligger på enheten og forlater den aldri. Appen har ingen nettkode i det hele tatt.
