BPG Delay

BPG Delay films the gym and plays it back a few seconds later, so a gymnast can turn around and watch the skill they just did on the TV at the end of the track. This page is where you get help, and where the privacy policy lives.

Common questions

The TV is not showing anything

BPG Delay does not talk to the TV itself. Swipe down for Control Centre, tap Screen Mirroring, and pick the Apple TV or the TV. Whatever is on the phone then appears on the TV. If the list is empty, the phone and the TV are on different Wi-Fi networks.

The picture on the TV stutters

Screen Mirroring, not the app, decides the frame rate on the TV. A busy gym Wi-Fi is the usual cause. An Apple TV on a cable to the router gets closest to a smooth 60 frames per second. Switching to 720p in Settings also helps.

The logo keeps spinning and the picture never starts

The app has to record the whole delay before it can play anything back. With a delay of 15 seconds it takes 15 seconds. The ring around the logo shows how far it has got.

The phone gets warm during a long session

Camera, encoder and mirroring all run at once. Take the phone out of its case, keep it on a charger, and use 720p for sessions over an hour. If the phone gets seriously hot the app drops to 30 frames per second and says so, rather than letting iOS stop the camera mid-session.

My clip is not in Photos

The first time you tap Save video, iOS asks for permission to add to Photos. If you said no, turn it on in Settings, BPG Delay, Photos, and choose Add Photos Only. Clips land in your camera roll.

The 0.5× button is missing

The ultra wide lens arrived with iPhone 11, and no iPad has one. The app hides the button when the lens cannot film the chosen quality at 60 frames per second, instead of quietly dropping to 30.

There are black edges above and below the picture

The camera films in 16:9 and the screen is a different shape, most noticeably on iPad. Open Settings and set Picture to Fill, which crops a little off the top and bottom and keeps angles true, or Stretch, which fills every corner but pulls the picture out of shape.

The app says there is not enough storage

The delay is kept in a file on the phone, and it has to hold the longest delay plus the longest save. Ten minutes of each needs about 2.7 GB at 1080p and half that at 720p. The app lowers both limits by itself when storage is short. Free some space, or switch to 720p.

Can I ask for something the app does not do?

Yes, and please do. The app is built from what coaches asked for on the gym floor, so a short email describing the situation is more useful to me than a feature name.

What it needs
Privacy policy

BPG Delay does not collect anything

There is no account, no sign-in and no server. The app has nothing to send anywhere, and it sends nothing.

The camera. The app needs the camera to do its job. Every frame is compressed and written to a temporary file on the device, so the picture can be played back a few seconds later. That file never leaves the device, and it is emptied when you close the app.

Photos. When you tap Save video, the app asks iOS for add-only access to your photo library and writes one clip to it. It cannot read, browse or delete anything that is already there.

The TV. Screen Mirroring is a part of iOS, not of this app. The app contains no code that talks to a TV. What the TV shows is a copy of the phone screen, sent by iOS over your own network.

What is not here.

  • No analytics, crash reporting or tracking of any kind
  • No advertising, and no advertising identifiers
  • No third party software development kits
  • Nothing shared with anyone, because nothing is collected
  • Nothing collected from children, or from anyone else

If Apple sends me a crash report through App Store Connect, it comes from Apple and contains no personal information. You choose whether to share those in your own iOS settings.

Questions about privacy go to the same address as everything else: hn.moum@gmail.com. If this policy ever changes, the new version appears on this page and the date below changes with it.

Ingenting forlater enheten.
